Best mining rig - GPU for mining in 2021 | RTX 3070 3080 3090
So we are in 2021 and again after 3 years of waiting, the crypto is going up again, so you learned the lesson KEEP MINING

Crypto like stocks goes up and down sometimes and yes they are more volatile than the stock market, that's why if you are ready to invest in crypto one of the best ways is to mine it instead of buying, but wait what is Mining?
Mining is the process of preparing hardware GPUs, in this case, to connect it to the blockchain of a specific coin to start performing a lottttt of mathematical problems to solve a kind of equation, everytime this is achieved, well you get paid on that coin, in this article we are going to refer to ETH or Ethereum because is the most profitable coin to mine.
In order to get the hardware to start mining you have 2 options:
1- Build yourself
2- Buy a plug and play mining rig.
Earlier in 2017 we were mining already with more than 25 rigs, nobody knew about mining but one day, when all cryptocurrency started to rise in price, people started paying attention and then it became mainstream, we decided it that time to build a website and start selling our rigs with one thing in mind "MAKE IT SIMPLE".
At the very beginning mining was a pain in the as.. yes, took a lot of time to setup just the pool and the software was very difficult to configure and make it work with the GPUs.
Now is simple as making a cup of coffee, you connect the rig, configure and go, all this happen in 5 minutes with our mining rigs and our Brand new 2021 video guides that you can take a look HERE.
Setting the miner is easy and you can access it from a web browser or your mobile device and with our support team ready to assist you 24/7 via video conference we make sure that you start mining as soon as you receive your rig.
So with that introductions lets go to the important part. what is the best GPU for mining in 2021.
RTX 3070, 3080 or 3090?
Choosing the GPU will depend on multiple factors like your budget, the GPU consumptions/performance, and the location where you are going to place the rig.
The rule of thumbs here is, the more expensive the GPU, the better the performance, but and this is a big BUT, in some cases, because power consumption is really important for mining some weaker GPUs will perform better, in order to understand this we are going to compare the different 3 GPUs we are talking in this post.
RTX 3070:

Cost - $898
Hashrate for Ethereum - 60 Mh/s with optimization - to learn more how to achieve this hasrate, send an email to us at - support@maverick-tech.com
TDP - 120w
RTX 3080

Cost - $1250
Hashrate for Ethereum - 98 Mh/s with optimization - to learn more how to achieve this hasrate, send an email to us at - support@maverick-tech.com
TDP - 220w
RTX 3090
Cost - $2100
Hashrate for Ethereum - 110 Mh/s with optimization - to learn more how to achieve this hasrate, send an email to us at - support@maverick-tech.com
TDP - 300w
As you can see there if we look at hashrate we will think that the 3090 is the best option and that's correct, but when we add the 300w consumption this GPU actually will produce the same as an RTX 3080 at a much lower TDP, another BIG problem with the 3090 is that because of High TDP the GPU will get hotter than the other ones and it will start thermal throttling which decreases performance and you will go from 110 mh/s probably to 98 or less in few hours.
Another disadvantage is let's say you have a rig capable of 6GPUs, like our Maverick A100 rig in order to install 6 of those 3090 you will need an additional power supply which increases cost and failure having 2 power supply.
The 3080 is without a doubt the best GPU for mining out there, but due to the increase in price and popularity of this GPU not only for mining but for gaming and Deep learning, is not going to be the best options these days, so that let us with the RTX 3070.
Currently, at this time all the 25 6GPUs mining rigs that we use in our farm, are using RTX 3070, and oh man, we are shocked with the performance.
After a few optimizations settings we could get each GPU running at 110w and reaching 61mhs, this reduce the cost of buying an expensive power supply and the noise level of this rig is so quiet that we can have one in the same room where we work ( office environment ) on top of that heat is very low and the GPUs stay cool around 56 Celcius all the time which impact in the lifetime of the hardware, the cooler the hardware the longer will last.
Price-wise the RTX 3070 still overpriced but this is normal since they are out of stock everywhere.
We are waiting for a batch with 100 units RTX 3070 and 50 units RTX 3080, send an email to us if you are interested to buy your rigs - sales@maverick-tech.com
Verdict
RTX 3070 at this time of writing this blog is the best option in terms of power consumptions and hash rate performance, the RTX 3080 is the most powerful GPU and cost-effective but due to out of stock and high demand they are very difficult to find, RTX 3090 is out of the scope because high prices and loose performance when pairing with multiple GPUs.
